1 · What this is
The Control Tower is DP World’s cockpit for coordinating BMW inbound transport and the suppliers behind it. It brings the supplier list, meeting/onboarding status, the transport network and all documents into one place. Everything is read-live from one database; nothing leaves the server.
The work is organised into three transport relations:
- Debrecen Desk (DE → Debrecen) — German suppliers delivering to the BMW plant in Debrecen (Hungary). This is the default view.
- Gebiet 18 (RO/BG → DE) — suppliers in Romania & Bulgaria delivering to BMW plants in Germany.
- Empties — the returnable-packaging (Leergut) flow back to RO/BG.
2 · Switching workspace
Top-left, next to the title, the Workspace switcher flips the whole app between Debrecen Desk · DE and Gebiet 18 · RO/BG. The four supplier views below always follow the selected workspace. Debrecen Desk is the default and your starting point.
3 · The four supplier views (left menu → Overview / Onboarding)
- Dashboard — headline numbers: suppliers, meetings scheduled/completed, protocols, missing info, plus upcoming meetings and the network KPIs. Click a KPI to jump to a filtered list.
- Map — every supplier plotted; colour = meeting status. Click a pin → open details.
- Suppliers — the searchable table. Filter by status (Scheduled / Completed / No meeting / Missing info); click a row to open the supplier.
- 360° detail — the full supplier page (opens when you click any supplier). See §4.
4 · The supplier 360° page
Everything about one supplier, on one scrollable page:
- All fields are editable (the Ext. number is locked). Meeting dates use a date picker. Your edits are protected — a later master-data import will not overwrite them.
- Communication — pick a standard message (invitation, reminder, confirmation, MoM follow-up); the text is pre-filled with the supplier’s data and the current pickup windows. One click copies it; the copy is logged.
- AI prompts (admin only) — ready-made prompts to draft tailored messages.
- Attachments — upload/download files (protocols, MoMs, e-mails) for that supplier.
- Agreements — points auto-extracted from protocols & meeting minutes appear as candidates “to verify”. A human confirms them (they never count as fact until verified).
- Notes — free text, e.g. “on hold / out of scope”.
5 · The network cockpit (left menu → Network / Planning / Directory)
- Plants — the receiving BMW plants (incl. the Debrecen plant) with operational profile.
- Cross-docks — the consolidation hubs (Wörth, Arad).
- Forwarders — carriers with a traffic-light onboarding readiness (contract, P44, training…).
- Flows — sender area → receiving plant ribbons, thickness = volume. Filter by year/Gebiet.
- Volumes — planned/actual/forecast volume charts.
- Ramp-up — the go-live wave timeline.
- Contacts — the who-does-what directory across plants, suppliers, hubs and partners.
- Documents — global documents: BMW IPC terms & conditions, contracts, onboarding templates, hub layouts — each typed and downloadable, plus the per-supplier attachments.
- Empties — the Leergut return tracker (searchable log + totals).
6 · Ask the data
Type a question in plain English — the console turns it into SQL over the data and shows both the answer and the query it ran (nothing leaves the server). Examples are one click away; supplier questions respect the active workspace. Press ★ Save to pin a question to the current workspace for later.
7 · Search & roles
- Global search (top bar) — press Enter to search across suppliers, plants, forwarders, contacts and agreements at once.
- Roles — Viewer reads everything; Editor can also edit and upload; Admin additionally runs imports and sees the AI prompts.
Where to start
Open Suppliers, click one to see the 360° page, and try Communication to copy a ready invitation. Switch to Gebiet 18 to see the RO/BG side. When in doubt, reopen this guide with ❔ Guide at the top.
